UIST Repository Policies
The University of Information Science and Technology St Paul the Apostle in Ohrid operates the UIST Digital Repository to preserve and share its research data and scholarly outputs. The rectorate designates the repository administrator. These policies explain deposit, access, reuse and retention.
Content and deposit
The repository accepts UIST research data, supporting documentation, software, publications and theses. The principal publication languages are Macedonian and English. Deposit is for UIST researchers, staff and students. The repository administrator creates or authorises user accounts and assigns deposit permissions for UIST collections. Authorised users may deposit and publish material without individual administrator approval. The repository does not operate an external partner deposit programme.
Submissions include the title, creators, description, output type, date, language, files and rights or licence information. Datasets also include documentation explaining their files, methods, variables or structure and limitations. Depositors are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of their content and metadata, permission to share the material, and correct licence and access conditions. They must disclose copyright, confidentiality and personal data restrictions.
The administrator manages account permissions and technical operation and may correct records or restrict affected material when a problem is identified. Repository publication does not constitute scientific peer review or endorsement by UIST. The depositor gives UIST non-exclusive permission to store, back up, preserve and provide the material under its recorded access conditions. Ownership remains with the rights holder.
Access and file reuse
The public catalogue and open files can be browsed and downloaded without an account. Submission and administration require authorisation. Files are made openly available when rights and confidentiality permit. Any embargo, restriction or unavailable full text is stated on the record; an embargo includes its end date. Requests for restricted files go to the repository administrator and depend on the rights holder's permission and the repository's ability to provide access.
Each file or dataset is governed by the licence or rights statement on its record. Public availability alone does not grant unrestricted reuse. Users must follow the applicable terms and must not bypass access controls or disrupt the service.
Metadata reuse and curation
Public descriptive metadata is available under CC0 1.0 and may be copied, reused and harvested without a copyright attribution requirement. Citing the repository record is encouraged. CC0 does not apply to deposited files or override privacy rights or third-party rights in material such as publisher abstracts. Private account information and confidential information are excluded from public metadata.
Depositors provide accurate metadata and links to related outputs. The repository administrator assists with technical corrections when needed. Substantive file changes are identified as new versions. Records provide a stable landing page and display any assigned identifier. Identifiers are not reassigned to unrelated outputs. A withdrawn record retains a non-sensitive notice where lawful.
Retention and service continuity
UIST retains deposited files and metadata while the repository operates, subject to lawful withdrawal and deposit conditions. The repository administrator coordinates backup and recovery arrangements and preserves original files where practicable. Any format conversion is documented. Depositors should supply widely usable formats and the documentation needed to interpret them. Preservation does not guarantee indefinite readability of every format.
If the service is to close, UIST will give notice where practicable and arrange an authorised export or retrieval of deposited material, respecting rights and access restrictions. No external preservation partner or successor archive is designated.
Corrections complaints and contact
Send deposit enquiries and record corrections to the repository administrator using the Contact page. That page also lists the university contact for privacy, copyright and takedown requests. Include the affected record URL and the reason for the request. The Privacy Notice describes temporary restrictions and review requests. UIST publishes material policy changes with their effective date.
